Developer Dynamics F&SCM/F&O ENGLISH
Intro
Quite often I hear that developers work on solutions in a quite isolated environment. I regularly have conversations with technical professionals about the fact that they feel like no one really knows what or how they are solving issues. As a result, many feel that if a solution "works", it's quickly deemed "good enough,". Which leads to the fact that they miss being technically challenged.
Being one of just 2, or 3 developers in a department, it’s only a matter of time before you become the best in the room. In a field like IT, with an innovation pace that seems to increase every year, you’ll soon have to rely on yourself and online communities. For this reason, I proudly share that at DycoTrade in Aalsmeer, not only will you work on a custom-made (read: unique) Microsoft Dynamics F&SCM based CTRM solution, but you’ll also be doing this with 23 (!) other talented professionals who are passionate about their craft. And for this team I am currently looking for an experienced F&SCM developer specifically for the Project Team at, DycoTrade. In short:
Jouw werkgever
DycoTrade has been around since 2001, currently employs 80 people, and is based in Aalsmeer. In just the last two years, they have grown by 30 people and have made a professionalization leap fitting their current and future size. It is a healthy, thoughtful, and agile environment.
The Solution:
DycoTrade offers its international clients a self-developed CTRM (Commodity Trading Risk Management) solution. This solution, based on Microsoft Dynamics F&SCM, focuses on the Trade, Finance, and Logistics modules and is specifically designed for stock exchange listed (bulk) commodities.
The Added Value:
Due to influences as the volatility of currencies, weather patterns, and the global economy hitting the stock markets, warehouses and overall shipping of commodities, DycoTrade took it upon their selves to help these companies with real-time insights and a single solution for sourcing, sales, shipping, and financial settlement. This reduces risks and increases profits, making the CTRM system highly successful.
The Culture:
Within DycoTrade's transparent, friendly, and motivating culture, you won’t be lacking in inspiration or growth opportunities. There is a lot of mutual respect, room to make mistakes, and opportunities to think creatively and contribute to the best solutions. Despite the company’s international nature — with both Dutch and English-speaking colleagues — you’ll always work in the Dutch time zone but will experience the best of different cultures. There is a lot of diversity and authenticity, one of the reasons why the development team is so satisfied with their working environment. It is also common for people to have long tenures, and even if someone makes a career switch, they often return to their team at DycoTrade, where the door is always open.
Jouw rol
As a developer in the Project Team (see: 'teams'), you’ll work on a unique, self-developed CTRM-solution for the commodity trade industry during client implementations, one of only a handful of similar solutions worldwide(!) You can imagine that this market position comes with many benefits and has contributed to DycoTrade's growth in recent years. The Teams: There are 3 teams within DycoTrade's development department, with a total of no fewer than 23 developers. In the Project Team, you’ll work with a team of 3 to 6 developers on implementations and have the opportunity to contribute and work on the solution from a 360-degree technical perspective. You won’t just be focusing on integrations, releases, or building pipelines — you'll develop yourself to the point where you can independently execute the full skill set of a fully-fledged F&SCM developer. You and your team bear significant responsibility which provides you with the opportunity to not only have the chance to leverage your strengths but also work on your personal/preferred fields of interest.
The Teams: The Master Team: This team codes innovations continuously, independently of implementations. These are experienced developers who know the CTRM solution well and have been with DycoTrade for a long time. The Project Developer Team: This dynamic team ensures that the solution fits the problem during actual client implementations. This way, clients can enjoy a solution tailored to their needs and implemented with care. In this team, you’ll occasionally have client contact and brainstorm with the functional consultants about the best solution. The Support Development Team: This is the aftercare team, also known as managed services, where a group of service-oriented developers handles updates, implements innovations for the client, fixes bugs, and makes other tweaks to the product. They also gather feedback for final improvements, which are picked up by the Master Team.
Common Challenges: The product is growing rapidly in popularity, which means the CTRM system is constantly expected to improve. Due to the aforementioned market position, there are many opportunities still to be explored and discovered. Think of separate solutions for different sectors in commodity trade, such as a standard solution for cocoa trade, one for coffee, and another for the grain industry. In addition to the CTRM solution (the 'main solution'), there are also extended solutions, such as risk management applications and other interesting modules. The development team is constantly innovating in these areas as well. With every implementation, someone will come up with a good idea or spot improvements, which are regularly incorporated into the base solution. In my opinion, it’s a beautiful fusion of creator and creation.
Doorgroeimogelijkheden
It’s hard to stand still in an organization growing in quality as rapidly as DycoTrade. To give you an idea of growth, here’s an example. The manager of the development team, a friendly, patient, and well-educated true techie, has been working at DycoTrade for nearly 10 years. He started as a developer and has been the manager of the entire department for several years now. If your ambitions lie elsewhere, the Master Team or a role as a Solution Architect may be for you. In addition, there are further opportunities within the Novature group to take horizontal or vertical steps.
